The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment protects and enhances public health and the environment through objective scientific evaluation of risks posed by hazardous substances. The Office performs risk assessments for various regulatory programs under the California Environmental Protection Agency, as well as other state and local agencies, and provides these programs with the scientific tools and information upon which to base risk management decisions.   • Biomonitoring Program - The Budget includes $167,000 General Fund and 1.2 positions to begin implementation of a statewide biomonitoring program pursuant to Chapter 599, Statutes of 2006 (SB 1379 - Perata). These resources will be used for public outreach and education activities and will support the Scientific Guidance Panel. The biomonitoring program will be implemented in coordination with the Department of Public Health and the Department of Toxics Substances Control.
