The Department of Conservation administers programs to preserve agricultural and open space lands, promote beverage container recycling, evaluate geology and seismology, and regulate mineral, oil, and gas development activities.

  • The Budget provides $12.3 million Proposition 84 funds and 4 positions to assist communities to build sustainable, clean communities, facilitate planning efforts to develop conservation easements that preserve agricultural land resources and their associated wildlife habitat values, facilitate the development of mitigation programs related to the conversion of agricultural land to urban and related other uses.

  • The Budget includes $2 million California Beverage Container Recycling Fund, and 23 positions to carry out the provisions of Chapter 907, Statutes of 2006 (AB 3056).
