Effective July 1, 2013, pursuant to the Governor's Reorganization Plan No. 2 of 2012, the California Emergency Management Agency is re-named the Office of Emergency Services (OES).
The principal objective of the OES is to reduce vulnerability to hazards and crimes through emergency management, homeland security, and criminal justice to ensure a safe and resilient California. The OES responds to and coordinates emergency activities to save lives and reduce property loss during disasters and facilitates/coordinates recovery from the effects of disasters.
