Effective July 1, 2013, pursuant to the Governor's Reorganization Plan No. 2 of 2012, the Department of Financial Institutions and the Department of Corporations were merged to create the Department of Business Oversight (Department) in the Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency. The Department regulates state-licensed financial institutions, products and professionals to provide accessibility to a fair and secure financial services marketplace. The Department serves California by enforcing the state's financial services laws and providing resources to Californians to make informed financial decisions.
